Climate |
The climate in Gyeongsan area is warm continental and similar to a special climate in Daegu area. The warm continental climate in the area between the Taebaek and Sobaek mountains is generally dominated by the properties of the basin, featuring less rainfall, higher temperature during summer seasons and larger difference in temperature between summer and winter, particularly, around the Geumho River. |

Rainfall
|
The amount of rainfall over Gyeongsan area is less the average yearly rainfall of Korea, due to its topographic influence. Korea's rainfall is mostly caused by the low atmospheric pressure from Mainland China and the East China Sea. When the humid wind from the West Sea and South Sea penetrates into the low pressure, there is heavy rainfall in the areas of the Sobaek mountains and South Korea Sea. When the low atmospheric pressure goes over the Sobaek mountains and reaches the area of Gyeongsangbuk-do, most of its moisture is reduced so extremely that less rainfall is relatively expected. In addition, when the northeastern humid wind from the East Sea reaches the areas of Gyeongsangbuk-do after passing over Gangneung and Sokcho, its moisture is reduced so that only light rainfall amounts are expected over the area of Gyeongsangbuk-do.
